Obituary: Wairarapa Daily News, 15 June 1915 "The name of another Carterton boy is added to the roll of honour on the latest casualty list, that of Corporal John Gregors Petersen, youngest son of Mrs A. E. Petersen, of Park Road, Carterton, says the Carterton "News". The gallant young fellow met his death in the first fight at the Dardanelles, when the New Zealanders earned the praises of their King for devotion and bravery."
