Biographical notes:

Married Doris Beard in Hornsey, North London on 6 June 1918 and left for the front the next day.

Worked at Homewood Station for Mr Tatham.

In the Wairarapa Times Age for Tuesday, 25 April 2006 Arthur Hindlesmith made the front page in a story called "Soldier's sacrifice to be recorded."

'Cable advice has been received of the death from wounds of Second-Lieutenant A. Hindlesmith, of the Wellington Infantry Regiment. Lieutenant Hindlesmith leaves a widow (nee Miss Doris Beard), a daughter of the late Dr Spencer F. Beard, and of Mrs Beard of Masterton.'
