Storyteller Tanya Batt invited teller at the 2000 and 2006 Festivals

Batt, Tanya: New Zealand. 2000, 2006
Tanya is a self-confessed story-o-phile and frock-o-holic. A south pacific pirate princess, a black butterfly, a word warbler and story stitcher who channelled her childhood propensity for talking and her love of dressing up into a real ‘imaginary job.' Born curious, she left New Zealand, her country of birth at a young age and tried growing up in Australia. This experience left her curious, with a funny accent and a great big sack of stories. Not wanting the sack to burst, she has been sharing stories ever since. Her story adventures have taken her all over the world, to places both on and off maps. She both writes and tells stories. Her work is characterised by a weaving of the ordinary and the fabulous. She likes to take old stories and dress them up in new clothes, she likes to dance and sing and hopes that in doing so, she preserves and fosters in her audiences a natural delight and curiosity.
