Storytelling was always a feature of Elizabeth (Liz)  Miller's life at home and work. She trained as a teacher gaining a specialism in speech therapy. After three years teaching she became the Children's Librarian at Invercargill Public Library. For 28 years, Liz worked with the Library Service in Invercargill and was awarded an M.B.E. in 1987 for her services to children and the community. Over this period, Liz developed her skills as a storyteller with a lot of overseas research. In 1990 she became a full-time professional storyteller, Dreamweaver. Since then, life has never been fuller with performances all over New Zealand and overseas. In 1990 Liz became a contract Children's Librarian in Masterton. She organised the inaugural Storytelling Festival in Masterton in 1992 and the setting up of a New Zealand Storytellers Guild.
